Just a few miles from Sturgis, South Dakota, the home of the world’s largest motorcycle rally, rests the town of Ridgemore. On the town’s quaint little website, citizens boast of the picturesque location and kind citizens; what they don’t talk about is the town’s own civil war. In the late eighties, a group of motorcyclists formed their own “club”, and dubbed themselves the “Holy Armada.” Since then, members have found themselves in and out of jail, or under investigation for illegal firearm dealing, though they are opposed to drug dealing. But the club’s leader, George O’Reilly, made sure nothing was ever traced back to the club. As far as the town is concerned, the Holy Armada is nothing more than a group of men and women who enjoy bikes, even if they know it isn’t true.
Eventually, the town police force got used to the Holy Armada’s presence, and often turned the eye of the law away from what was going on. Every now and then a police officer would try and take a stand, but would conveniently be shut up. They let the Holy Armada take justice into their own hands when needed.
In 2003, a small chapter of another motorcycle “club”, the Huns, moved into town. They felt the Armada was too soft, and brought new "businesses" to the town, including drug trafficking and prostitution. They were not intimidated by the reigning club, and were determined to run the Armada out of town. This was their home now, and they were going to fight for it, just as the Armada was going to fight to keep it.
After a deadly confrontation just out of town, it was discovered two members of the Armada, Jason Anderson and Robby McKenna, were among the dead. While Jason was new to the club and still trying to win the club’s trust, Robby was a well-respected member, and a close friend of George O’Reilly. The Armada wasn’t the only side to lose, as the son of the Hun’s leader was found dead. While tension was still high, George and the Hun leader, Will Sanders, met to discuss the future. Both agreed to share the town, and avoid conflict at all cost.
But as history has proven, just because a treaty is written does not mean it will hold up forever. It’s been two years since the leaders met, and once again, things are heating up. Neither side has forgotten what they lost. Members of both clubs are growing more and more desperate to run the competition out of town.
The fire is growing, and somebody has to leave.
